Mayo Civic Center: The “Center” of Action in Rochester, MN this Spring

Mayo Civic Center is gearing up to be “the center of the action” in Rochester, MN this spring. Musicians, comedians, and other entertainers are scheduled to perform almost every weekend from now through May in the newly-upgraded Presentation Hall, the Auditorium, and other venues.

“It’s definitely the busiest Spring since I started working here six years ago,” says Mayo Civic Center Box Office Manager Laura Woolworth, who runs ticketing for the center. “It’s exciting! The shows that are coming offer a ton of variety and seem to be attracting great attendance,” she says.

Woolworth notes that the recent improvements to Presentation Hall--including improved acoustics and lighting, new seating and stage curtains, new dressing rooms, a noise isolation system, and more--have appealed to promoters interested in bringing their shows to the center. In addition, there are currently many national touring shows that are perfect fits for Mayo Civic Center and Rochester. “The industry ebbs and flows, and right now there are a lot of great shows designed for a mid-sized market like ours,” Woolworth says.
